Chardonnays and Chilis

Join Back Story Tours for one of the most seductive journeys in America, a trip through the Land of Enchantment. A state of mind in a state that just celebrated 100 years since statehood, but 400 years of history. Our trip begins in Albuquerque, New Mexico, The Duke City was named for the 18th Century Duke of Albuquerque. Next we journey north to Santa Fe, The City Different with World Class museums, The Georgia O’ Keeffe Museum, fabled restaurants and the Rio Grande Valley’s four century old vineyards.

Soon, we’ll journey north along the Taos High Road. On the way, we’ll marvel at artists’ galleries and workshops and have an authentic New Mexican lunch at World Famous Restaurante de Chimayo. We learn about the importance of retablos and 18th century churches and journey alongside the Sangre de Cristo, dramatic mountains which give Northern New Mexico its immense artistic appeal. You'll understand why New Mexico is called the Land of Enchantment when we see the magical light over the Taos plain and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

The names of towns we stop in resonate Las Trampas, Chimayo, Cordova, Truchas. Breathtaking beauty and the drama of Southwestern history and heroes greet us around every corner we turn. Back Story Tours shows you the High Road, the low road, the ribbon of Highway 285 as it snakes through the vineyards and orchards of the Rio Grande Valley and the intimate back alleys of Santa Fe and Taos.

You’re convinced you’re in another country. Perhaps that is because you are.
